Niam Niam

Visual identity | Illustration

A visual identity I created for an imagined Lithuanian bakery in London after repeatedly catching myself reminiscing about those mushroom biscuits I used to get from my grandma. Oh, and niam-niam is simply non-nom in my first language.

To many, Lithuania is quite unknown. Which means I can probably portray it as anything I want, and you will believe me, right? I chose these otherworldly illustrations as a key part of the visual identity, taking us to a land with towering mushrooms and floating cinnamon swirls – Lithuania.

Every key item on the menu should have its own illustration and series of assets. For this, I used the mushroom biscuits as an example, but I'm almost dying to do a Treecake (Šakotis) too.

The hand-drawn style of the logo displays a sense of authenticity and craftsmanship, while the colour palette is inspired by the flag of Lithuania. The Niam Niam typography features two distinct typefaces: one is more playful, while the monospace typeface is more serious for longer bodies of text.

What I learnt (and ate)

I conceptualised, crafted, and told Niam Niam's unique story by creating a visual identity and brand guidelines for the brand. I pushed myself out of my usual style, explored a new artistic approach, and applied it across a variety of media. I also devoured a box of mushroom biscuits from a local international shop.
